D-Enunciation

This story takes place in the Island of Mucura, El Islote Island and in Rincon del Mar in the Atlantic coast of Colombia. In Rincon del Mar we met “E” who asked us to video-record her because she wanted to speak out. She wanted us to make her story public. Alexandra and I had to leave this town quickly because armed police kept coming to our hotel. They were uncomfortable with our cameras, and with our relationship with the local population.

The installation is composed for more than 20 short videos, portraits of the Afro-Colombian population in their living rooms. Their living rooms are decorated in a way that looks like very sophisticated artistic installations.  The installation is composed of large video screen and on each side of the screen there are 10 video portraits creating the effect of a road to —-> the main screen that connects the stories of bio-political control that the town people suffered during 10 years of paramilitary control.  D- Enunciation is an experimental immersive work that breakdown with the linearity of political documentary inviting the viewer to have a closer contact with its population throught the use of multiple screens and surround sound.
